Oil Filter Bypass Nipple — Replacing the Small Part That Stops the Vehicle
KEVMAR developed a locally machined replacement for a difficult-to-source commercial-truck oil-filter bypass component, allowing the service problem to be addressed at component level rather than replacing a much larger assembly.

The Problem
A relatively small oil-filter bypass component had become difficult to source, creating the risk that an otherwise serviceable commercial vehicle would remain off the road for want of one part.
The Constraint
The replacement needed to suit the existing service application and work with the required spring arrangement while remaining practical to manufacture locally.
The Thinking
The problem was approached at component level: identify what had actually failed or become unavailable, understand the required function, and manufacture a replacement rather than accepting the cost and downtime associated with replacing a larger assembly.
The Solution
A precision-machined replacement bypass nipple paired with a matching spring arrangement for the existing truck oil-filter system.
How It Was Manufactured
Machined from billet aluminium and paired with a heat-treated tension spring for the required service application.
The Result
The unavailable service component could be replaced locally, providing a practical route to keep the existing vehicle system in service without replacing the larger assembly.
